Elmwoods Large Kitchen Located on the edge of Delgatie's working farmstead, the Coach House provides a choice of accommodation in four separate self-catering apartments. This includes the Elmwood, whose lower level has been specially adapted to accommodate disabled people. Holidays are about getting away to where you can forget the pressures of everyday living. They are about unwinding in fresh surroundings. Here in the peace and tranquillity of Delgatie Castle Estate, you will have your own country hideaway with the forest on your doorstep.

 

As with all holiday cottages on the estate, the Coach House apartments are equipped to a high standard. Each provides a kitchen with all necessary appliances. Elmwood and Ashwood have large picture windows where the original coach house doors were located, giving excellent views of the surounding countryside. All are spacious with plenty of room to relax and enjoy a break from wandering the castle grounds or local countryside. Visit our Award Winning Tearoom in the Castle, 'The Laird's Kitchen' and enjoy delicious food and the very best in Home Baking.

 

Elmwood has accommodations for up to 7 people with a double bedroom downstairs along with shower room and toilet, and a very spacious sitting room with large picture window. The kitchen is very large and has a lovely view from its window. Upstairs there is a double bedroom, one twin bedroom, a single bedroom and a bathroom. Holidaymakers are welcome to walk through the Estate and the Delgatie Woods, where you will find a map showing colour marked walks to follow.

Delgatie has tremendous character and a distinct sense of history. This combined with its picturesque setting makes it an ideal stopping place for visitors wishing to experience Scotland. Whether for a half-day visit and refreshment in the cosy Tea Room or for a lengthier stay, Delgatie is sure to please. The Castle's location provides an ideal touring base for visiting some of Scotland 's most majestic scenery. Many of the loveliest areas of the Highlands of Scotland are easily accessible from Delgatie Castle. Fo example: - Speyside, the Cairngorms, Her Majesty the Queen's Scottish home - Balmoral; the village of Braemar with its annual highland gathering of world-wide renown, and Aboyne with its more friendly and informal games. The historic site of the grim Battle of Culloden is but an hour and a half's drive away.

 

Apart from tourist highlights, Delgatie is within easy reach of many quiet local beaches, potteries, antique shops and some of the world's best known whisky distilleries. There is an excellent golf course locally and others of high standard within easy reach. There are numerous rivers nearby that offer excellent fishing for salmon or trout. Delgatie offers its own tranquil lake where the best of rainbow and brown trout may be caught from dusk till dawn.
